Why Was IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Arrested?

The current popular and trending news of the world now is the arrest of Nigerian politician and leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB). Nnamdi Kanu is have been the topic online in many blogs since on the 29th of may.

To some Nigerians, his arrest brought joy, while to some others, they are really sad and they feel bad concerning his arrest. But have you ever thought of the reason for his arrest? Why was Nnamdi Kanu arrested?

Nnamdi Okwu Kanu is a Nigerian but also a British citizen who was born on the 25 September 1967. Nnamdi Kanu is a political activist who founded the IPOB in the year 2014 with the aim of separating Nigeria by bringing independence to the eastern part of Nigeria.

Nnamdi Kanu is the director of a radio station known as Radio Biafra in United Kingdom. Reports had it that he implemented the radio station and registered it in the UK in order to promote and widespread Biafran.

Concerning the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu; the IPOB leader has been on pursuit for 4 years after commiting treason, terrorism, ruling an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matters, improper importation of goods into Nigeria, illegal possession of firearms and guns and many other crimes. 

However, Nnamdi Kanu had been arrested before on the 14th of October 2015 for bringing about Biafra but was later bailed on the 28th of April 2017 due to some health challenges he was facing then. Meanwhile, after his release Nnamdi Kanu despite all continued his Biafra pursuit and started creating provinces around the country thereby causing problems in the country and increasing the rate of terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria.

Although, the separation of Igbos from Nigeria was supported by some Igbos, and this made Nnamdi Kanu used the opportunity to take rule over the eastern part of Nigeria. Sometimes later, Kanu was on the run because he had committed the crime of treason. Immediately, he flee over to Israel and was nowhere to be found or seen in Nigeria.

Upon his flee, he continued his treason, and was illegally importing firearms into Nigeria which almost brought about a protest in the country. Until he was later caught and arrested again by the Interpol and handed over to Nigeria. After his arrest, he was presented before a federal high court in Abuja on Tuesday.
