There is now an ongoing scholarship opportunity available at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland UK sponsored by Julius Nyerere The University of Edinburgh is offering a one-year post graduate scholarship to a lucky one postgraduate student in Tanzania, Africa. The lucky student will be able to study a master’s level program in the centre of African studies.
About Julius Nyerere Scholarship:
This ongoing scholarship opportunity set up in memory of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere who led and ruled Tanganyika to independence in 1961 and became the first prime minister and later president of Tanzania. Julius got a scholarship in 1949 to study at the University of Edinburgh, UK where he obtained a Masters of Arts degree, thereby he studied Political Economy, Social Anthropology, Philosophy, Constitutional Law, Economic History and British History.

Eligibility for Ongoing African Scholarship Opportunity Available at University Of Edinburgh
- The award will be made to a student domiciled in Tanzania who is accepted on a full-time basis for the MSc in Africa and International Development.
- Julius Nyerere Masters Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2.1 Honours degree at undergraduate level in a Humanities or Social Science subject.
- Candidates must submit a Personal Statement for the scholarship application which should clearly state why you are applying for this scholarship, along with your experience and aspirations in the field of Africa and International Development.
- Candidates must also arrange for two referees to submit reference letters supporting their application.
- Interested candidate will complete an online scholarship application.
Please Note: This ongoing Nyerere Scholarship available cannot be held alongside any other scholarship funding.
For candidates to gain access to the scholarship application system, they must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh. Prior to the submission of an application, it can take as long as ten working days to be completed and access will be granted.
